 In
2004, an exciting New Age Wellness company “opened
the door” to healthy indoor environments. SaniHandles

Doctors and Scientists at the Center for
Disease Control (CDC) in Atlanta have specified the viruses,
bacteria, fungi and protozoa that are spread by hands touching
doorknobs*. The
public is reminded to keep its hands washed regularly,
but old habits die hard**. Our survey revealed that 58.7%
of the people going into public rest rooms do not wash
their hands before leaving.

**In 19th Century Vienna, it was a common
practice for doctors to go from teaching in the dissecting
room to delivering babies in the maternity rooms without
washing or disinfecting their hands. In fact, the doctors
would wipe their hands on their aprons and the more blood
stained the apron, the better their “badge of honor.” Disinfecting
the hands had not been invented yet. When Ignatz Semmelweis
discovered that he could save thousands of lives of women
in childbirth, by requiring doctors to wash their hands
in an antiseptic solution, his method was ignored by the
doctors outside his department, and the administrator of
his hospital eventually had Semmelweis confined to a mental
hospital.
