The Dream

I would like to share my dream about SaniHandles®, but first, let me give credit to the Inventor, Almighty God.  I am so grateful that He answered my prayer.

One day it struck me more powerfully than ever before.  I was in the rest room at a truck stop when I noticed two grimy looking guys who did not wash their hands when they finished using the facilities.  They opened the door ahead of me on their way out and my stomach turned.  I used a paper towel to avoid touching the door knob as I left the rest room, but for some reason, I could not forget the incident.  In prayer, I asked the Lord if there was anything that could be done about filthy door handles and spreading germs, and possibly disease, from human indifference.

I said, “Lord, you give people helpful inventions (according to Proverbs 8:12). What can I do to protect people from those dirty door handles?”  I had a dream a few days later and then again and again and I knew I had to draw it all on paper. I hired a patent attorney to apply for two patents, the utility patent and a design patent.  The expense was hard to meet but about six months later, I got a call from the attorney.  He was excited to tell me that no one else had ever invented a self sanitizing door handle.  SaniHandles® by Brookes would be the first self-sanitizing door handles in the world.

On my way into a Promise Keepers meeting in Pontiac, MI, I met an engineer and a draftsman.  I told them about my dream and asked for their help.  One of the men said he worked on the design for a toilet seat years before and he described it.  I told him that I saw one like it in Ohio.  We both had lived in the same city at the same time.  I saw his design.  We knew that the Higher Power had arranged our meeting when the time was right.

I went for a two hour ride with a friend who had to deliver a product to a testing laboratory.  I asked the Doctor at the lab what kind of testing they did.  He said he was a virus expert, checking for germs.  I told him about my door handle and that it needed to be tested.  He was excited about the whole concept.  The Doctor said he pursued his career because of a dirty door handle.  When he was twelve years old, he used the rest room in a gas station and subsequently became ill.  It was later determined that he had contracted his illness due to the dirty door handle.  How he became sick from a dirty rest room and not the kind of “dirt” under trees was difficult for a young person to understand. That is what prompted his interest in germs and why he studied to become a virus expert.

Who else but the Good Lord could have arranged a meeting with the perfect professional who had the perfect personal-interest history to test the SaniHandles?  The lab results were superb.  The Doctor has a friend who is an Officer in the Air Force where they analyze germs and viruses in defense against chemical warfare.  He asked if the Officer would double check the door handle. The product proved to be excellent at killing all germs, viruses, and bacteria that were cultured and placed on the handle for testing.  The evidence of the laboratory reports is published on this website.  Every public rest room should be equipped with SaniHandles® by Brookes.

I share my dream and the story of its fruition to inspire you, because I know you may have good ideas and dreams as well. I encourage you to “go for it!” If God has given you the dream, He will give you the means to become a blessing to many. May the blessings of the Lord enrich your life.
